Rutgers University K-12 Chinese Teacher Training Initiative

The Rutgers University K-12 Chinese Teacher Training Initiative is funded by a generous grant by the Freeman Foundation. It brings together Rutgers resources in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, the Graduate School of Education, and the World Languages Institute. As the need for Chinese learning increases in the state of New Jersey, the initiative aims to address the need for Chinese teachers through the following five initiatives:

Bullet Expand opportunities in The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures, the Language Education Program at the Graduate School of Education, and the World Languages Institute to better serve pre-service and in-service Chinese teachers
Bullet Increase the number of certified Chinese teachers in the field
Bullet Link schools with prospective teachers
Bullet Promote Chinese programs in K-12 settings
Bullet Enhance the Rutgers Multimedia Chinese Teaching System to serve the K-12 population
